The 3 to 1 Family
Jeff's first musical memories were Johnny Cash, The Beatles, and older brother Kevin playing along with Glen Campbell records. Since Kevin wrote songs at a very young age, Jeff figured that's just what you're supposed to do with a guitar laying around. After years of being the primary songwriter for bands like Ian Faith, Tremolo, Septemberland, and The Deep Drops, his songs have recently been featured on ABC's 'Desperate Housewives. Jeff now has a following that appreciates simple, melodic, and honest music with a little attitude.
Ben Joseph is a promising young multi-instrumentalist based in Chicago. His work as a songwriter, arranger, and session musician has earned his groups critical acclaim and caught the attention of notable Chicago players, such as Nicholas Tremulis and Rick Barnes. Joseph has toured this great nation with Ezra Furman and Jennifer Hall, and has studied with luminaries Christian McBride and Peter Erskine. His third full-length album, Solace, was released earlier this year.
Dodging in and out of pop ditties, lilting melodies, and quirky song structures, Dick Prall's inability to stay in one musical place is reflective in a body of work that mirrors his personality: youthfully distracted and sweetly cynical. You could label him a storyteller, one who leaves you happily singing along to tales of serial murder and roadside sex long after you've tucked away your ear buds.
the Deep Drops
The Deep Drops write songs about people who chase their dreams, and people who have lost them. The songs stare unflinchingly into the things we all hope for, and the things we deny. Comprised of Jeff Lemons, Sam Wahl and Nashville vocal phenom Shannon Parker Kernahan, the Drops were formed as a showcase vehicle for the songs of 3 to 1 Music Group... but fate had different plans.
Residing in Chicago, having weeded out all the charlatans and hipsters, Sam is currently surrounded by an amazing family of accomplished and dynamic music makers, hosting a monthly singer/songwriter round called GET OFF THE COUCH. "I love music!! I most of all love the humanity of music! When I'm not making music I'm a tour manager/stage/production manager and a music publisher for a short list of artists and organizations who's music and creations I enjoy supporting." Although an artist first, Sam is an ambassador for live music and songwriters wherever he goes.
John L. Sullivan
For most musicians, the list of achievements reads like a career wish list fulfilled; being voted Chicago's top drummer, signing to Hollywood Records, co-producing your band's major label debut album, achieving Gold record sales status and a #7 Billboard hit. But for Chicago multi-instrumentalist, recording artist, and singer-songwriter John L. Sullivan, the best musical moments are yet to come. John believes in the power of the hook, the timelessness of a melody, and the telling of a tale, choosing earnestness over flash, and honesty over irony.
